Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming store. This entry-level role offers flexibility, hands-on pet experience, and paths to advancement in pet retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain cleanliness, ensure pet safety, and respond immediately to sick/injured pets.
- Recommend merchandise, services, and live pets while supporting all store areas.
Experience & Skills
No experience needed—we train you! Ideal candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50lbs, climb ladders, handle animals). Passion for pets is key.
