Role Overview
Our part-time Retail Sales Associates (Pet Associates) are the heart of the store, delivering outstanding pet parent experiences while upholding our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and service excellence. Located in Springfield, Massachusetts, this role involves hands-on pet care, sales, and store operations in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service to pet parents in-person, online, phone, and at checkout; greet, answer questions, and recommend products/services/live pets.
- Care for store-owned pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), administer vet-directed medications, and respond to health issues.
- Maintain store standards: face/fill/recover merchandise, stage products, execute price changes, and ensure cleanliness/safety.
- Handle online order pickups, promote events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
- Flexibly assist across store areas including services, following all policies.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who stay calm under pressure, have schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and can lift 50+ lbs. Physical demands include standing, climbing, stooping in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise and occasional wet/hairy conditions. Reasonable accommodations available.
