Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll engage pet parents and their pets while upholding PetSmart's vision. Share responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care. This entry-level role offers flexibility and a chance to do what you love in pet retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online.
- Care for store-owned pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store standards: cleanliness, product facing/filling, price changes, and merchandising.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, handle animals). Exposure to pet hair, noise, and wet environments is common.
