Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Surrey, BC store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming store environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, customer service, and merchandising in a dynamic retail setting focused on pet happiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators with schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays). Must handle pressure calmly, lift 50+ lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stand/walk extensively, and work in pet hair/wet environments with moderate noise and live animal exposure. Reasonable accommodations available.
