Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Syracuse, NY store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live pets, and maintain a welcoming store environment. This entry-level role offers flexible hours, perfect for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with hands-on pet interaction and customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, and recover sales floor to standards.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators with schedule flexibility, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing). Comfort handling live animals in a dynamic retail setting with moderate noise and pet hair.
