Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, maintains store standards, and provides direct pet care. Based in Torrance, CA, this entry-level role suits animal lovers with flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and sales at register.
- Manage store pet health: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), administer vet-directed meds, and transport sick pets.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes/promotions, and maintain cleanliness.
- Promote events like adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, and charity drives while ensuring safety for associates, pets, and customers.
- Flex across store areas including services as needed, following all policies.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Need strong communication, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50lbs, climb ladders, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments). Vision for depth perception essential.
