Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. Based in Virginia Beach, VA, this entry-level role offers flexible hours, perfect for pet enthusiasts eager to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and sales at register.
- Maintain pet health by feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed meds.
- Ensure store excellence via cleaning, merchandising, product recovery, pricing updates, and safety protocols.
- Promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment; recommend products, services, and pets.
- Handle emergencies like sick pets, team lift heavy items, and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required, but pet passion is key. You'll need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to stand, lift 50lbs+, climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for noise/hair essential.
