Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Whitby, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming store environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, customer service, and merchandising in a fun, pet-loving atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, and support price changes/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and handling live animals essential.
