Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll drive PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, champion superior service, and execute daily business while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; lead pet parent interactions, conduct Core/Services Walks, manage inventory, and review cameras for accountability.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals, analyze performance, optimize processes, and partner on events with local adoption groups.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years in retail management, expertise in team building, customer service, and operations. Key skills include financial acumen, conflict resolution, pet safety knowledge, and the ability to empower teams in a fast-paced environment. Flexible availability for days, nights, and weekends required.

- Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
- Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance reviews for associates
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with policies
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and drive continuous improvement
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and community partnerships
