Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key results, champion superior service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, interview, hire, coach, and terminate; build open-door culture; create schedules; facilitate development, reviews, recognition, and succession planning; delegate effectively and address grievances.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health; manage pet parent interactions; improve processes; lead events and compliance walks; prioritize safety; oversee inventory and camera reviews; handle sick pets.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze metrics and root causes; communicate objectives; partner with leadership for optimal outcomes.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership in high-volume environments, pet industry knowledge, P&L experience, and skills in team motivation, customer service, and operational efficiency. Flexibility for varied shifts is essential.
