Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while driving exceptional service and efficient daily execution.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture with high engagement.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health; deliver outstanding pet parent service; conduct monthly walks and camera reviews; maintain compliance and inventory standards.
- Business Management: Achieve profitability goals; analyze performance; execute corporate strategies; partner on events and community initiatives like adoptions.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management experience, strong leadership in high-volume environments, and a passion for pets. Key skills include team motivation, financial acumen, customer obsession, operational excellence, and adaptability to dynamic retail settings. Pet industry knowledge is a plus.

- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with policies and procedures
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and community partnerships
