Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, drive results, and ensure exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, and develop associates; foster open communication and high engagement through reviews, recognition, and succession planning.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, maintain standards via walks and audits, manage inventory, and prioritize a safe environment.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and adapt to changing priorities.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and passion for pets. Key skills include team building, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and data-driven decision-making. Flexible scheduling is essential.

- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and safety audits
- Drive business goals through strategic execution and team empowerment
- Foster associate engagement via recognition, training, and feedback
- Collaborate on events and community partnerships
- Handle pet welfare including vet transport if needed
- Analyze performance metrics and implement improvements
