Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, deliver exceptional service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build engagement through open communication and recognition.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; manage pet parent interactions; conduct compliance walks; oversee inventory and events.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze performance; communicate objectives; monitor safety via cameras and address issues promptly.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include team motivation, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and adaptability to flexible schedules.

- Ensure compliance with policies, conduct store walks, and monitor via cameras
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and business objectives to meet profitability goals
- Foster team engagement through recognition, development, and open communication
- Collaborate on events, adoption partnerships, and continuous process improvements
- Handle pet welfare issues including vet transport as needed
