Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, and deliver exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; foster open communication and high engagement through feedback and recognition.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; resolve customer concerns; conduct safety walks and camera reviews; manage inventory and events.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability; analyze performance metrics; communicate objectives; adapt to changing priorities.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet passion. Key skills include team building, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and compliance. Flexible availability required.

- Drive business goals by analyzing performance and executing strategies
- Facilitate associate scheduling, training, and succession planning
- Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and ethical standards
- Partner on in-store events and community adoption initiatives
- Handle pet welfare issues including vet transport as needed
