Role Overview

The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key results, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, recognition, and succession planning; build an open-door culture.
  • Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; deliver outstanding pet parent service; conduct compliance walks and camera reviews; manage inventory and events.
  • Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability; analyze performance and root causes; communicate objectives; adapt to business changes.

Experience & Skills

  • Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, and termination decisions for associates
  • Build high-engagement teams through recognition, development, and feedback
  • Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
  • Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with policies/procedures
  • Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and safety audits
  • Drive profitability by executing corporate strategies and analyzing performance
  • Foster partnerships for events and community adoption initiatives
  • Handle pet health issues and maintain safe environments for pets/people
  • Cascade business goals and adapt to changing priorities
