Role Overview

The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while achieving key results through exceptional service and efficient execution. This full-time role demands a dynamic leader ready to build high-performing teams in a fast-paced pet retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

Handle recruiting, hiring, coaching, and terminations; build an open-door culture; create schedules; facilitate development, reviews, and recognition; delegate effectively and address grievances.

Store Experience

Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, maintain standards via monthly walks, manage inventory, review cameras for accountability, and oversee opening/closing procedures.

Business Management

Execute corporate strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and partner on events with adoption groups.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership in team building and development, expertise in customer service, financial acumen, and passion for pets. Key skills include conflict resolution, operational efficiency, compliance knowledge, and strategic thinking. Experience in pet retail is a plus.
