Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, interview, hire, coach, and manage associates; build open-door culture; create schedules; facilitate development, reviews, and succession planning; recognize achievements.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent and associate experiences; ensure pet safety; resolve concerns; improve processes; conduct Core and Services Walks; monitor cameras for safety; manage openings/closings.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze performance; maintain inventory; communicate objectives; partner on events and adoptions.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership in high-volume environments, pet industry knowledge, financial acumen, and HR expertise. Key skills include team motivation, customer obsession, operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and fostering inclusive cultures. Flexibility for varied schedules is essential.
