Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. Drive company culture, achieve key results, champion service excellence, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, recognize achievements, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; manage escalations, conduct Core and Services Walks, review cameras for safety, and oversee opening/closing procedures.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals, analyze metrics, optimize inventory, communicate objectives, and partner on in-store/community events.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring retail management experience, strong leadership to empower teams, customer service passion, financial acumen, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include effective delegation, conflict resolution, process improvement, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours.
