Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for store safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, drive targeted outcomes, deliver exceptional service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, develop, and recognize associates; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; address grievances and build an open-door culture.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; lead pet parent interactions; conduct Core & Services Walks; manage inventory and compliance.
- Operations & Financials: Drive sales goals, optimize processes, partner on events, review cameras for safety, and cascade business objectives to the team.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years in retail management, strong team-building skills, customer service expertise, financial savvy, and passion for pets. Must excel in delegation, problem-solving, and fostering engagement in a fast-paced environment.

- Lead recruitment, hiring, coaching, & performance management for store team
- Drive exceptional pet parent service & resolve escalated concerns
- Ensure compliance with policies, conduct monthly store walks, & maintain inventory levels
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, & development through training & recognition
- Manage store opening/closing, events, & partnerships with adoption groups
- Monitor store cameras, address risks, & ensure pet welfare including vet transport if needed
