Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while delivering exceptional service and efficient execution to achieve targeted business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, conduct reviews, and foster an open-door culture with high engagement.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe environments for associates, pets, and customers; manage pet parent interactions, conduct safety walks, and oversee inventory compliance.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze data, optimize processes, and lead events/community partnerships.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership in team building and financial accountability, passion for pets, and expertise in customer service, operations, and compliance. Flexibility for varied shifts and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.

- Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
- Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance management for store team
- Drive exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Ensure compliance with policies, conduct safety walks, and monitor store cameras
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and business objectives to meet profitability goals
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and development opportunities
- Collaborate on in-store events and community partnerships
- Handle pet health/safety issues including vet transport as needed
- Analyze performance data and implement process improvements
