Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while delivering exceptional service, achieving targets, and building a high-performing team in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, conduct reviews, and foster engagement through recognition and feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; manage customer interactions, compliance, inventory, and store standards via walks and camera reviews.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and lead events with community partners.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and passion for pets. Key skills include team motivation, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and adaptability in a fast-paced store. Experience in pet retail is a plus.
