Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) oversees all aspects of store operations, including team leadership, pet parent experiences, safety, financial performance, and HR functions. Based in Encinitas, CA, you'll champion PetSmart's vision, drive results, and build an engaging environment focused on exceptional service and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, and develop associates; conduct reviews, recognize achievements, and resolve grievances to boost engagement.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; lead pet parent interactions, conduct safety walks, manage inventory, and partner on community events.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance metrics, communicate objectives, and maintain compliance with policies and ethics.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership in high-volume settings, pet industry knowledge, P&L accountability, and proficiency in team motivation, customer service, and operational efficiency. Flexibility for varied shifts and a passion for pets are essential.
