Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key targets, deliver exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; foster an open-door culture with engagement tools.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; manage pet parent interactions; conduct monthly walks; oversee inventory and compliance; review cameras for safety.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals; analyze performance; cascade objectives; partner on events and adoptions; handle openings/closings.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership in high-volume settings, expertise in team motivation, customer service, and P&L accountability. Pet industry passion, process improvement skills, and adaptability to flexible schedules (days, nights, weekends) are essential. Proficiency in inventory systems and safety protocols preferred.
