Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for store safety, pet parent experiences, operational execution, financial results, and all HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve targets, champion outstanding service, and ensure efficient daily operations while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture and address grievances.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent and associate experiences; ensure pet safety; resolve concerns; conduct monthly Core and Services Walks; maintain inventory and compliance.
- Operations & Safety: Review cameras for risk assessment; manage opening/closing; transport sick pets to vets; communicate business objectives and adapt to changes.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management experience, strong leadership skills, pet care knowledge, and expertise in sales driving, team motivation, and operational efficiency. Proficiency in HR functions, conflict resolution, and financial oversight is essential. Passion for pets and commitment to safety set top performers apart.
