Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key targets, champion exceptional service, and ensure efficient daily execution while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, and develop associates; foster open communication and high engagement through reviews, recognition, and succession planning.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, conduct monthly walks, monitor compliance, and prioritize a safe, welcoming environment.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance metrics, manage inventory, and collaborate on events and community partnerships.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership in high-volume environments, expertise in team building and customer service, and a passion for pets. Proficiency in operational tools, financial oversight, and adaptability to dynamic retail settings is essential. California residents preferred for local market knowledge.
