Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, strategies, and values while delivering exceptional service and efficient execution to achieve targeted business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; foster engagement through recognition and open communication.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; lead pet parent interactions; conduct safety walks; manage inventory and compliance; collaborate on events and community partnerships.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze performance metrics; communicate objectives; monitor cameras for safety; handle pet emergencies and store procedures.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership, P&L expertise, and customer service passion. Key skills include team building, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and adaptability in a fast-paced pet retail setting. Pet industry experience is a plus.

- Foster open-door culture, deliver associate reviews, and promote engagement
- Collaborate on events, community partnerships, and store standards maintenance
- Monitor store cameras, address risks, and handle pet health emergencies
