Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for store safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build open-door culture and address grievances.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environment for pets and people; deliver outstanding pet parent service; conduct Core and Services Walks; manage inventory and compliance.
- Operations & Financials: Review cameras for safety; communicate objectives; partner on events; evaluate processes for continuous improvement; handle pet health emergencies.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years retail management, strong team-building, customer service, and operational skills. Passion for pets, financial savvy, and HR experience preferred. Must excel in delegation, problem-solving, and fostering engagement.

- Lead recruitment, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and terminations
- Build high-engagement team culture through recognition, training, and open communication
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Conduct monthly store walks, camera reviews, and compliance checks
- Manage scheduling, inventory levels, and store events/partnerships
- Prioritize safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to pet health issues
