Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key targets, deliver exceptional service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture and address grievances.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe environments for associates, pets, and customers; manage pet parent interactions; conduct monthly walks and camera reviews; oversee events and inventory compliance.
- Business Management: Drive profitability by executing corporate strategies; analyze performance; communicate objectives; handle pet health issues promptly.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management experience, strong leadership in high-volume settings, and a passion for pets. Key skills include team motivation, operational execution, customer focus, financial acumen, and adaptability. Pet care knowledge is a plus.

- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with company policies
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and drive continuous improvement
- Foster team engagement through recognition, training, and open communication
