Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, and deliver exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews and recognition; build an open-door culture.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health; lead customer interactions; conduct safety walks; manage inventory and compliance; partner on community events.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability; analyze metrics; communicate objectives; monitor risks via cameras; handle openings/closings.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership, customer focus, financial acumen, and pet passion. Key skills include team building, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and strategic execution. Flexible availability required.

- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Manage inventory, conduct safety walks, and maintain compliance with policies
- Analyze business metrics, execute corporate strategies, and achieve profitability goals
- Foster open-door culture and respond to associate feedback
- Coordinate store events, community partnerships, and adoption programs
- Monitor store cameras, address risks, and ensure pet health and safety
- Create schedules, deliver performance reviews, and drive associate engagement
