Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key targets, deliver exceptional service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; foster open communication and high engagement.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; resolve concerns; conduct safety walks; manage inventory and compliance.
- Business Management: Drive profitability, analyze performance, execute strategies, and collaborate on events like adoption partnerships.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 5+ years in retail management, expertise in team building, customer service, operations, and financial oversight. Key skills include strategic delegation, conflict resolution, pet care knowledge, and adaptability to flexible schedules. Passion for pets and proven results in high-volume retail environments required.

- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Manage inventory, conduct safety walks, and monitor store cameras
- Drive profitability by executing corporate strategies and analyzing performance
- Facilitate associate training, reviews, and succession planning
- Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and ethical standards
- Partner on community events and adoption group collaborations
- Handle store opening/closing and emergency pet care situations
