Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while driving exceptional service, efficient execution, and targeted business results in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture and address feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; deliver outstanding pet parent service; conduct compliance walks; manage inventory and events.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze metrics; communicate objectives; monitor safety via cameras and take action on issues.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of retail management experience, strong leadership, customer service expertise, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include team motivation, financial acumen, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and adaptability to flexible schedules. Passion for pets and commitment to safety/compliance are essential.

- Maintain inventory levels and conduct store walks for compliance
- Drive business goals through strategic execution and team motivation
- Monitor store cameras, address safety issues, and handle pet welfare
- Foster company culture and respond to associate feedback
- Collaborate on events and community partnerships
- Analyze performance metrics and implement improvements
