Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, drive strategies for targeted outcomes, and ensure exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and engagement; address grievances.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions; ensure safety for pets, associates, and customers; conduct compliance walks; manage inventory and events.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze performance; communicate objectives; respond to business changes.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, expertise in team leadership, customer service, financial oversight, and pet care. Key skills include strategic thinking, conflict resolution, operational efficiency, and fostering a positive culture. Flexibility for varied shifts is essential.

- Ensure compliance with policies, conduct store walks, and monitor via cameras
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and business objectives
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and development programs
- Collaborate on events, adoption partnerships, and process improvements
- Handle pet health issues and maintain safe store environment
