Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key targets, champion superior service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; build an open-door culture; manage scheduling, reviews, training, and succession planning.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; deliver exceptional pet parent service; conduct monthly walks and camera reviews for compliance.
- Business Management: Analyze metrics, execute strategies for profitability, manage inventory, and lead events with community partners.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet passion. Key skills include team building, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish). You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment prioritizing safety and results.

- Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
- Recruit, hire, coach, and develop store associates
- Create schedules, conduct performance reviews, and manage HR functions
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Conduct store walks, monitor cameras, and maintain compliance with policies
- Analyze business metrics, manage inventory, and drive profitability goals
- Lead community events and partnerships with adoption groups
- Prioritize safety for associates, pets, and customers
