Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key results, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health, deliver outstanding pet parent service, conduct monthly walks, manage inventory, and prioritize safety via camera reviews and incident response.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and partner on events with adoption groups.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership in high-volume environments, pet industry knowledge, and skills in P&L management, team motivation, and operational excellence. Must thrive in dynamic settings with flexible availability.

- Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance reviews for store associates
- Ensure exceptional customer service and resolve escalated pet parent concerns
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and drive continuous process improvements
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and community partnerships
