Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, and deliver exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead people functions: recruiting, hiring, coaching, scheduling, reviews, and engagement initiatives.
- Drive store experience: ensure pet safety, resolve customer concerns, maintain standards, and conduct safety walks.
- Manage business outcomes: execute strategies, analyze finances, optimize inventory, and monitor performance via cameras and reports.
- Foster a safe, compliant environment and collaborate on events with adoption groups.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include team development, financial acumen, operational efficiency, and adaptability to flexible schedules.

- Create schedules, conduct performance reviews, and foster associate engagement
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalations
- Maintain inventory levels and conduct monthly store walks
- Drive business goals through strategic execution and process improvements
- Monitor store cameras, enforce policies, and prioritize safety for people and pets
- Collaborate on in-store events and community partnerships
- Analyze financial data and report on key metrics
- Handle opening/closing procedures and emergency pet care
