Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for store safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build an open-door culture.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe environments for associates, pets, and customers; manage pet parent interactions; conduct safety walks and camera reviews; oversee inventory and events.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain policy compliance, evaluate processes for improvement, communicate objectives, and respond to sick/injured pets with immediate action.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, and pet care knowledge. Key skills include team motivation, financial acumen, conflict resolution, and operational efficiency. Passion for pets and community involvement is a plus.

- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with company policies
