Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for store safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; build open-door culture and address grievances.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environment for pets, associates, and customers; lead pet parent interactions; conduct monthly walks and camera reviews; manage inventory and events.
- Operational Excellence: Drive financial outcomes, comply with policies, evaluate processes for improvement, and cascade business objectives to team.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years in retail management, strong team-building skills, pet care knowledge, and financial savvy. Must excel in customer service, conflict resolution, and empowering others. Flexible availability required.

- Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance management for store team
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with company policies
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and safety audits
- Foster associate engagement through recognition, training, and development
- Drive community events and partnerships with adoption groups
- Handle pet health issues and ensure safe environment for pets and people
