Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while achieving targeted results through exceptional service and efficient execution.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure pet safety and health; deliver outstanding pet parent service in-store, online, and via phone; conduct Core and Services Walks; monitor cameras for compliance.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze performance metrics; manage inventory; lead openings/closings and community events.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of retail management, proven leadership in high-volume environments, and passion for pets. Key skills include team motivation, financial acumen, customer obsession, operational efficiency, and adaptability to flexible schedules. Experience with pet care or retail P&L is a plus.
