Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, drive targeted outcomes, and ensure exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; foster engagement and resolve grievances.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, conduct compliance walks, manage inventory, and prioritize a safe, welcoming environment.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance metrics, communicate objectives, and collaborate on events and community partnerships.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and passion for pets. Key skills include team building, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and data-driven decision-making. Experience in pet retail is a plus.

- Monitor store cameras, address risks, and handle pet health issues promptly
