Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, drive results, and ensure exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; foster an open-door culture with feedback tools.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, conduct monthly walks, manage inventory, review cameras for compliance, and handle openings/closings.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and partner on events and adoptions.
Experience & Skills

- Build and maintain high associate engagement through feedback, recognition, and development
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Manage inventory, conduct safety walks, and monitor store cameras for compliance
- Drive business goals by analyzing performance and executing corporate strategies
- Collaborate on events, adoption partnerships, and community initiatives
- Handle pet welfare issues including vet transport as needed
