Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key targets, deliver exceptional service, and execute daily business efficiently while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules; facilitate reviews, training, and succession planning; foster open communication and engagement.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; manage customer interactions; conduct compliance walks; oversee inventory and events.
- Business Management: Drive profitability through strategic execution; analyze performance metrics; communicate objectives; review security footage for coaching.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management, strong leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include team motivation, operational efficiency, conflict resolution, and adaptability to dynamic retail demands. Flexible availability is essential.

- Analyze business metrics and execute strategies to meet profitability goals
- Foster a safe environment for associates, pets, and customers
- Collaborate on events and community partnerships
- Handle store opening/closing and emergency pet care situations
- Cascade company goals and adjust priorities dynamically
