Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive oversight of store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, mission, and values while delivering exceptional service and efficient execution. This full-time role demands strong leadership to build high-performing teams and achieve business goals in a dynamic pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Handle recruiting, hiring, coaching, and terminations; foster an open-door culture with associate feedback tools; create schedules, deliver reviews, and drive engagement through recognition and development.
Store Experience
Ensure pet safety and health; lead customer interactions across channels; maintain standards via monthly walks; prioritize safety, inventory compliance, and event partnerships; review cameras for coaching.
Business Management
Execute corporate strategies for profitability; analyze metrics and root causes; communicate objectives; manage openings/closings; respond to pet health issues with vet transport as needed.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in retail management, expertise in team building, P&L accountability, and customer service. Key skills include delegation, conflict resolution, process improvement, and pet passion. Flexible availability for varied shifts is essential.
