Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll drive company culture, achieve key targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe environments for associates, pets, and customers; manage pet parent interactions, conduct Core and Services Walks, and oversee inventory and compliance.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and partner on events like adoption drives.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of retail management experience, strong leadership in high-volume settings, and a passion for pets. Key skills include team motivation, operational efficiency, customer obsession, financial acumen, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Pet industry knowledge is a plus.

- Manage inventory, scheduling, and compliance with policies and procedures
- Conduct store walks, camera reviews, and drive continuous improvement
- Foster company culture, associate engagement, and community partnerships
