Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, strategies, and values while delivering exceptional service and efficient daily execution. This full-time role demands dynamic leadership in a fast-paced pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Handle recruiting, hiring, coaching, scheduling, performance reviews, and terminations. Build an open-door culture, leverage associate feedback, facilitate development, and recognize top performers to boost engagement.
Store Experience
Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, maintain store standards, conduct safety walks, manage inventory, review cameras for compliance, and partner on community events like adoptions.
Business Management
Execute corporate strategies for profitability, analyze metrics, communicate objectives, and adapt to changing priorities while prioritizing safety for associates, pets, and customers.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of retail management experience, proven team leadership, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and passion for pets. Key skills include delegation, conflict resolution, process improvement, and flexibility for varied shifts. A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree is a plus.
