Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, drive results, and foster exceptional service while ensuring compliance and pet well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, deliver reviews, and build an open-door culture.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions, ensure safety for pets and people, conduct monthly walks, and manage inventory/compliance.
- Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance, communicate objectives, and partner on events/adoptions.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have 3+ years in retail management, strong leadership in team building and customer service, financial acumen, and passion for pets. Key skills include delegation, conflict resolution, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making. Flexibility for varied shifts is essential.

- Oversee all store operations including safety, pet parent experience, and financial performance
- Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and terminations
- Build high-engagement teams through recognition, training, and open communication
- Ensure exceptional in-store experiences and resolve escalated customer concerns
- Manage inventory, conduct safety walks, monitor cameras, and maintain compliance
- Drive profitability by executing corporate strategies and analyzing business metrics
