Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) oversees all store operations in San Jose, CA, including team leadership, pet parent experiences, safety, financial results, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's vision, drive strategies, and ensure exceptional service while maintaining a safe, compliant environment for associates, pets, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, and develop associates; conduct reviews, foster engagement, and handle grievances.
- Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions, ensure pet safety, conduct compliance walks, manage inventory, and review security footage for coaching.
- Business Management: Execute corporate strategies, analyze financials, optimize operations, and partner on community events like adoptions.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in retail management, strong leadership to build high-performing teams, expertise in operations and P&L, and a pet-loving mindset. Key skills include effective delegation, conflict resolution, data-driven decision-making, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
