Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. Drive company culture, achieve key results, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; build open-door culture; manage scheduling, reviews, training, and succession planning.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; deliver outstanding pet parent service; conduct safety walks and compliance checks; manage inventory and events.
- Business Management: Analyze metrics, execute strategies for profitability; communicate objectives; review cameras for safety and coaching.
Experience & Skills
Seeking leaders with 3+ years in retail management, strong team-building skills, pet industry knowledge, financial acumen, and a passion for customer service. Must thrive in dynamic environments, delegate effectively, and prioritize safety/compliance.

- Create schedules, conduct reviews, and manage labor effectively
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalations
- Conduct safety walks, monitor cameras, and maintain compliance
- Analyze business metrics and execute corporate strategies
- Manage inventory to ensure optimal stock levels
- Foster a positive store culture and associate engagement
- Partner on community events and adoption initiatives
- Handle pet health issues and coordinate vet transport as needed
