Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. Drive company culture, achieve results, champion service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, schedule, mentor, and develop associates; conduct reviews, recognize achievements, and build an open-door culture using Voice of Associate feedback.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets, associates, and customers; manage pet parent interactions, conduct Core and Services Walks, review cameras for safety, and handle sick pet protocols.
- Business Management: Deliver profitability goals, analyze performance, optimize inventory, communicate objectives, and lead events with community partners like adoption groups.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have retail management experience, strong leadership in team building and motivation, customer service expertise, financial acumen, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include effective delegation, conflict resolution, process improvement, and adaptability to dynamic retail environments. Flexible scheduling is essential.
