Role Overview
The Retail Store Manager provides leadership oversight for safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial outcomes, and HR functions. Drive company culture, achieve targets, champion exceptional service, and execute daily business while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, review, and develop associates; build open-door culture; manage schedules and engagement.
- Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy pets and outstanding pet parent service; resolve concerns; conduct walks and camera reviews.
- Operations & Finance: Maintain inventory, enforce policies, communicate objectives, and prioritize safety.
Experience & Skills
Seeking proven retail leaders with team-building expertise, customer service excellence, financial acumen, and pet industry knowledge. Key skills include delegation, conflict resolution, inventory management, and fostering high engagement in dynamic environments.

- Oversee all store operations including safety, pet parent experience, and financial results
- Lead recruitment, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and terminations
- Build open-door culture, manage schedules, and drive associate engagement
- Ensure exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
- Conduct monthly walks, monitor cameras, and enforce policies/procedures
- Maintain inventory levels, prioritize safety, and collaborate on events
- Cascade business objectives and adapt to changing priorities
