Role Overview

The Retail Store Manager (Store Leader) provides comprehensive leadership over store safety, pet parent experiences, operations, finances, and HR functions. You'll champion PetSmart's culture, achieve key results, and deliver exceptional service while upholding our vision, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, and develop associates; create schedules, facilitate reviews, and build engagement through recognition and feedback.
  • Store Experience: Ensure safe, healthy environments for pets and people; manage customer interactions, conduct compliance walks, and optimize inventory.
  • Business Management: Execute strategies for profitability, analyze performance, and lead events with community partners.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all store operations including safety, customer experience, and financial performance
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance management for store team
  • Drive exceptional pet parent service and resolve escalated concerns
  • Ensure compliance with policies, conduct monthly store walks, and monitor via cameras
  • Manage inventory, scheduling, and business objectives to meet profitability goals
  • Foster open-door culture, associate engagement, and succession planning
  • Collaborate on in-store events and community partnerships
  • Prioritize safety for associates, pets, and customers; handle pet health issues promptly
  • Analyze performance data and implement process improvements
  • Cascade company strategies and adjust to changing priorities
